Style Transfer
Made in 2016, when neural style transfer was barely a year old and the idea of recasting one image’s structure in another’s texture was everywhere. The figures here chase that idea by hand: each line drawing rebuilt in Illustrator and rendered through Three.js, recolored and recast through spectrum and marble. The series runs one reclining figure first, then a whole sequence of poses. The chevron-tiled panels grew into a piece of their own, the Tessellations.
Behind the scenes: an image-GAN prototype, run early on for inspiration. It produced only noisy candidates, never usable as the finished figures, but the direction it pointed at shaped the figures that followed.
